MOISTURE DEFICIT IS CURRENTLY HAVING A NEGATIVE IMPACT ON THE FUTURE WINTER WHEAT HARVEST
The lack of precipitation for a long time leads to a shortage of productive soil moisture reserves, especially in the upper and arable horizons, which has a decisive impact on the future winter wheat harvest.
Dry and hot weather, lack of moisture in the soil during the earing phase of winter wheat disrupts the formation of generative organs, and the ear forms a larger number of underdeveloped and sterile flowers.
This is stated in an analytical note of the National Academy of Sciences with reference to scientists of the Institute of Agriculture of the Carpathian Region of the National Academy of Sciences.
