THE 2024 SOWING SEASON IS OVER IN UKRAINE
Along with the start of the harvest in Ukraine, farmers have completed the spring sowing season of 2024.
On the territory controlled by Ukraine, 7.2 mln ha of oilseeds and almost 5.6 mln ha of grains and pulses were sown.
Farmers sowed more than 99% of the forecasted areas of spring grains and pulses:
corn – 3,928 thou hectares (100.4% of the forecasted areas);
barley – 783 thsd ha (95.7%);
wheat – 252.7 thou hectares (102.6%);
oats – 163.7 thou hectares (100.7%);
peas – 162.5 thousand hectares (101.6%);
buckwheat – 100.8 thou hectares (80.7%);
millet – 69.7 thou hectares (81.8%).
Among the oilseeds, the company planted sunflower on 5 189.8 thou hectares (98%) and soybeans on 2 032.3 thou hectares (102%).
Sugar beet was planted on the area of 250.1 thou hectares (97%).
