Ukraine is among the top five exporters of organic products to the EU!
In recent years, Ukraine has confidently entered the TOP-5 largest suppliers of organic products to the EU. Taras Vysotsky, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, stated this during his speech at the international B2B event Online Organic Export Days, the ministry’s press service reported on November 22.
In particular, according to the official, in 2021 Ukraine took 5th place in the world out of 126 countries in terms of the volume of imports of organic products to the EU with a share of 6.6% of the total volume.
According to monitoring data conducted in 2021, the total area of agricultural land with organic status was 370,000 hectares. In recent years, Ukraine confidently entered the TOP 5 largest suppliers of organic products to the EU.
According to the Swiss Organic Agriculture Research Institute (FiBL), in 2020, Ukraine ranked 21st in the world and 13th in Europe in terms of the area of organic agricultural land.
Also, the First Deputy Minister emphasized that the production of organic products in Ukraine is carried out mainly in compliance with EU and US legislation. More than 20 foreign certification bodies certify such production.
In addition, he reported that the ministry is currently working on finalizing the legal framework for control in the field of organic production, circulation and labeling of organic products.
