1️⃣. None of the cereals has as many varieties and species as wheat (there are 20 types of wheat in the world).
2️⃣. Wheat is a very ancient grain, it has been used for food for more than 12,000 years.
3️⃣. It is believed that the homeland of wheat is the southwestern part of Asia, the so-called “Fertile Crescent”. The oldest archaeological finds of wheat are in Syria, Jordan, Turkey, Armenia and Iraq. Wild wheat grew there and it dates back to 9000 BC.
4️⃣. Wheat is common everywhere. Wheat began to be cultivated in the Roman Empire, thanks to which it spread throughout Europe. It appeared in Asia and Africa at the beginning of our era. Wheat was brought to South and North America by European colonizers in the 16th and 17th centuries, and in the 18th and 19th centuries to Australia and Canada.

6️⃣. The largest consumer of wheat in the world is the European Union.
