Restrictions on Ukrainian poultry exports have been lifted
On January 17, the European Union lifted restrictions on the import of poultry products from Ukraine in full. This was reported by the press service of the State Food and Consumer Services.
It is noted that the restrictions have been in effect since December 2020 in connection with the detection of cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza in Ukraine. Restrictions applied to quarantine areas where cases of the disease were detected, while products from uninfected areas were allowed to be exported to the EU. Thanks to the work carried out to eliminate outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza and to take measures to prevent the spread of the disease, the restrictions that have been established have been lifted in full.
According to the Head of the State Food and Consumer Service Vladislav Magaletska -“Poultry products make up a significant share of Ukrainian goods exported to the EU. Therefore, the lifting of restrictions by the European Union is very important for our exporters. The decision allows to resume the export of poultry products from all over the country. ”
The State Food and Consumer Service noted that in recent years the system of state control over avian influenza in Ukraine has been repeatedly assessed by inspectors of the competent authorities of trading partner countries, including the EU, USA, Japan, Canada and China. According to the results of evaluations, the system of state control over avian influenza introduced in Ukraine is recognized as effective.
